About Cub Packs
A cub pack can have numbers up to 42 cubs depending on the ratio of Adult Leaders / Helpers to children. They are organised into six or seven groups of six Cub Scouts called ‘Sixes’. Each Six is named after a colour, and is led by an older Cub Scout called a ‘Sixer’, and assisted by a ‘Seconder’.
The Cub Scout theme is based around Rudyard Kipling’s "The Jungle Book", with the Cub Scout Leader named ‘Akela’ after the leader of the wolf pack, and the other leaders taking on other character names from the book, such as ‘Baloo’, ‘Bagheera’, 'Kaa', ‘Raksha’, 'Shere Khan' and ‘Chil’.
The Cub Section is the start of the Scout Training Programme which is structured and balanced allowing for the Cubs to develop skills, learn to work as a team, take part in many activities including camping and other outdoor activities all whilst having fun. Taking part in programmes that are put on each week allows the cubs to work towards badges and to reach their ultimate goal of being awarded the Chief Scout Silver Award. This Award can only be presented to Cubs who ‘Have done their best’.
